We are a family of four people. Mother 46, 3 children 12, 14 and 16 years old. We are 11th and 12th generation farmers . The farm and the family today, lives from the land and the wood. There are horses, and other small animals on the farm. I, Anne Helene run an organisation that helps young people that has problems with coping in ordinary schools. Anne Helene is also enjoying volunteering as a refugee guide for a woman from Eritrea.
The family have a long tradition ( 16 years) of having people various ages from many countries around the world staying through different exhange programs. The children also speak english fluently. We therefore have good experience in making the workers time with us as exciting and enjoyful as possible.
The family both enjoy Norwegian food traditions, as well as we are curious to learn more about new food traditions that new workers bring to our house. We have also learned much about vegetarian food through the years.
There are to houses with apparaments, and a small cabin on the farm. Today, there are already living one german family, and a dutch man 28 years old on the farm. They don’t work on the farm, but is a part of our small “community”.
Our mountain farm is one of five mountain farms situated in the same area, within the boarders of Langsua Nationalpark at the entrace to Jotunheimen, 970 m.a.o. Spåtind is the higest mountain in the area, 1414 m.a.o Together with the community, a museum and the owners and keepers of the mouintanfarms, we are planning to start a new project, to protect the nature, and restore the old buildings in the area. Watch this video from the area:
The farm is in 2012, starting a small workshop and a cleaners, where local people can wash, clean and repair leather and thick fabrics (horseequipment, belts and so on).
One of the new projects next spring, is growing ecological herbs and a few vegetables. They will be sold from the farmshop, during the seasons.
