"The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Portsmouth has TWO bursaries available for suitable candidates in the following fields:

* Criminology and Criminal Justice
* English and Related Literature
* History
* Sociolinguistics and Translation
* Sociology

Bursaries include payment of fees, a maintenance stipend (£13,290 in 2009-10) and an allowance for fieldwork. The bursary agreement includes a requirement to undertake up to 6 hours teaching per week during each semester.

The deadline for PhD Bursary applications is 24th July 2009, for an October 2009 start."
